![]() ![]() Yeah thats true, I`m so happy I got in on the old MIJs before the feeding frenzy began. And that stereotype many of us westerners have that all Japanese folks are honest.is false.my rose colored glasses came off years ago. Sellers are now aware of how many people outside Japan are after their guitars and there are people selling fake JV neck plates and parts as well as headstock logo stickers so it`s only getting tougher to weed out the real ones from the phoneys. Prices on Orvilles are getting up there though, but personally I`d rather have a Bacchus for around the same money. ![]() Recently got an MIJ Epi SG that I really like so I see no need for an us I have a lot of other great MIJs so Orville would be a lateral step as opposed to a step up from what I alread own. Orville by Gibson, I`ve seen my share but have never been tempted. I got an old Burny here a few months ago for $250.oo and love it, sounds brilliant but I was able to play it first, buying one on line from guys who will not accept returns is too risky unless I could be 100% certain of authenticity and that ain`t easy. I saw the Burny auction and will not be bidding, theres too much guess work involved with them, even the old Grecos which have become collectable seem to have been made by more than one factory and there are plenty of on line theories but very little hard evidence. The 2 screw 3 screw truss rod cover thing is not a good way to determine country of origin. There are Chinese Super Grades in this city that come stock with Duncan p`ups, there are MIJs and MIKs too. ![]()
